PASSIVE HOUSE IN DIFFERENT CLIMATE ZONES
Subtropical climate: Luxury Passivhaus in Dubai (United Arab Emirates)
Part of research project "Passivhaus for 5 different climate zones (Dubai, Las Vegas, Shanghai, Tokyo, Yekaterinburg)
The white facade (low absorption coefficient related to solar radiation) does not have windows. From the street view, that house seems to be a single-floor building. However, it is a two-storey house. The bedroom level is placed in the basement, where the sun radiation is almost reduced.
The entrance area is covered with photovoltaic panels, which protect the forecourt from sunlight and at the same time it provides „green energy“, which can be used to cool the house.
The villa is exclusively provided with natural light by the interior courtyard. The patio is protected by a light-permeable membrane from excessive overheating.
The two-storey courtyard is covered by water surfaces and plantings, which are irrigated with gray- and rainwater. That creates a pleasant microclimate.
